Survey of World Wide Availability of Cryptographic Products
Project Description:
This 1999 project is included for historical interest and due to periodic requests for it. It was one of the first surveys of encryption products developed outside the United States and provided some information on the effect of the United States export control regime at that time on American and foreign manufacturers, arguably leading to changes in that regime. Its findings were summarized in testimony before Congress on June 10, 1999, which is accessible here. The project report is also available for viewing in this pdf.
